Stopped serving the stations West Hampstead, Kilburn (then Kilburn & Brondesbury), Willesden Green, Dollis Hill and Neasden on a regular basis. These stations are served by the Bakerloo line (Jubilee Line from 1979-05-01), but can still be served by Metropolitan on special occations.

Highgate station opened between Highgate (Archway) (now Archway) and East Finchley.

King's Cross St. Pancras station closed. It was moved from today's Thameslink station to a place closer to the main line stations. The new stationed opened the next day. The old running tunnel between the new platforms are now used as a concourse. The size of the arched brick roof which covers the tunnels can clearly be seen here.
