There were a number of
companies that opened railways that were
used as extensions. What happened to railway companies like:
Hammersmith & City Railway
Baker Street and Swiss Cottage
Railway Answer: Taken
over by the Metropolitan 1882. BS&SC wound up 1883-01-01
Whitechapel & Bow Railway
Ealing & South Harrow Railway
East London Railway
My guess is that the
H&C was taken over by the Metropolitan
Railway, but when?
My guess is that the W&B and E&SH were taken over by
the
Metropolitan District Railway, but when?
Or did they survive until the formation of London Transport in
1933?
